The Santa Barbara County Office of Arts and Culture is pleased to announce Wit and Whimsy: Selections from the Collection of Michael and Nancy Gifford, a new multimedia exhibition showcasing works by local artists. The exhibition is on view until spring 2020.(Note: Nancy Gifford’s large-scale piece, LAMENT, is now on permanent view at the Santa Barbara Public Library Central Branch.)

The public is invited to an opening reception during the November 1st Thursday Art Walk from 5-8 p.m.Thursday,November7at the Channing Peake Gallery located in the County Administration Buildingat 105 E. Anapamu Street in Santa Barbara.

In 2018, Michael and Nancy Gifford donated almost 300 pieces by local artists to the County. Wit and Whimsy: Selections from the Collection of Michael and Nancy Gifford an inaugural exploration of the recently acquired collection, acting as a springboard for future projects and exhibitions countywide. This public debut highlights the talent and diversity of artists living and practicing in Santa Barbara County.

Artist and long-time County Art in Public Places Committee member Cynthia Martin and County Office of Arts and Culture Curator Julia Rutherford Daly served as co-curators of the exhibition that was produced by the Santa Barbara County Arts Commission
